Howdy to all,
News for fall/winter:
We are excited about a new venue opening near us in the town of Damascus, VA. The Damascus General Store will open on Friday,
November 20, and will be featuring old time music on Friday nights and bluegrass on Saturdays. We will be doing the debut
show. It begins at 7PM, so bring your dancing shoes and come on! Admission is free, and food is available.
We will also be at the Renaissance Center in Kingsport Nov.6, the Larry Pennington Memorial Festival Nov. 7 and the Carter
Fold Nov. 14. Check out our schedule page for other shows.
We will be doing "Crooked Road" East Coast tour during the month of April, 2010. Sammy Shelor, Elizabeth LaPrelle,
Wayne Henderson, Eddie Bond, Kirk Sutphin and No Speed Limit will again be again be our tour-mates! The tour is sponsored
by the National Council for the Traditional Arts.
Martha and Jackson will be touring Australia in March. Check their website for details.
Mt. Rogers School in our community will be closing in coming months when we combine with Bridle Creek School to become
Grayson Highlands School. We have formed an organization to create the Whitetop Folklife Center in the Mt. Rogers School
building if all goes well. We'll keep you posted, as this will be a performance and teaching center. The Albert Hash Festival
will continue there, as well as other festivals, shows and dances if things develop as we hope.
The Albert Hash Festival was the best ever this year! Thanks to all who worked, played, participated and attended.
We are looking forward to next year's festival!!!
